Halloween 2016

They don’t sell candy corn in Germany, so every summer when we’re in America I stock up and save them for our Halloween party.

I bought a brain jello mold on amazon and made it with strawberry vanilla pudding and strawberry sauce

We did a few Halloween art projects that everyone enjoyed

Then it was time to head outside. Unfortunately there’s no trick-or-treating in Germany, so we try to make up for it with a candy filled piñata…

Giant bubble time- always a hit! That’s Louis and Ella’s older cousin Mia, who sometimes helps us out at our kid parties- thanks Mia!

Quinnie’s turn!

Then we went back inside to watch Michael Jackson’s Thriller music video. A few kids got so scared they had to leave the room- sorry to any parents who had to deal with nightmares that night- my bad!

Hope you all had a spooky and fun Halloween!

Halloween Prep

When we got back from Italy, we immediately jumped right into Halloween Prep mode. We throw a kids Halloween party for the girls and their friends every year, so there was lots to do. First we decorated…

We made our Halloween Party invitations…

We carved pumpkins. This tradition hasn’t really caught on here. The first year we lived in Germany we invited some of the girls’ friends over to carve Jack-O-Lanterns with us, and they were completely grossed out by the whole process- the slimy insides and seeds, the smell of the pumpkins.. they were NOT into it. It’s funny how something totally normal and expected in one culture is thought of as so odd (and gross!) in another.

Quinnie actually likes the slimy seeds- must be the American half of her!

Drying out the seeds to get ready for toasting.

We made 2 different kind this year- one sweet, one savory. They both turned out great and were eaten right up!

We bought some of these gummy candy eyeballs for the party

Halloween Party up next!
